WHAT WE DO

FOR LATEST NEWS, GO TO NEWS PAGES ON MENU OR BLOG

Elmina is an area of about 50,000 people on the south coast of Ghana, West Africa. It is mainly a fishing and farming village. Through our programs, many students are able to “become their dreams”.

Tomorrow’s Stars improves literacy of young students in KG to Grade 3 with our “learn through play” Resource Room and Jolly Phonics, an effective method for small children to learn English.

We support students up to grade 9 at 4 schools through our 4 libraries, computer lab, reading clubs, girls clubs, science lab and many other activities. Our home base is Christ Cares International School.

When our students do well on their 9th grade national exam, we support them at local Edinaman HS as needed (often helping with boarding and learning materials) and monitor their progress expecting them to do well on their national HS exams after grade 12.

TWO YEARS OF PAYING IT FORWARD

See “Paying It Forward” page:

Our HS grads (who we have known for many years) help the younger students by:

  • Working in libraries, computer lab and KG resource room
  • Helping teachers with our Jolly Phonics method to learn to read
  • Tutoring at the evening study centers
  • Tutoring students, overseeing girls’ clubs, reading clubs and other activities

The PIF (Paying It Forward) experience matures them and they are well prepared for University!!

During this time, they mature and have many development opportunities to help them prepare to “become their dream” and decide what path to pursue.

UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS

See “Stars Become Leaders” and “Stars in University” Pages

Those who are successful can apply for University Scholarships from Tomorrow’s Stars. College is subsidized (for some courses) in Ghana and $1000 covers a large part of the costs.

We currently have 16 in University and 24 GRADUATES!!
