In Ghana, many K to 3 students, especially girls, struggle with basic math for many reasons. Without good basics, this can be a severe handicap for their academic success.
Tomorrow’s Stars is trying to improve this at our “learn through play” Resource Room.
Leticia (BA in early childhood education) and Sharon (4th year student at UCC) and PIF (Pay It Forward Students Melvin and Philip), are using more interactive techniques in small groups. The children are having fun and learning.

We find and remedy many weaknesses. This boy had trouble with 6 and 9. Drawing them in the sand helps him practice. Works with letters too.
We are learning a lot. The kids love it.
We are involving most of the kids in KG to Grade 2, once a week in groups of 12 AND we are reviewing in the full classrooms to connect the teachers and the entire classes together.
